The prices on this page are those of our model (POMMES). The TYNDP 2026 curves (NT+, ENTSO-E and ENTSOG) are drawn as dashed lines, for comparison; they cannot be downloaded here.

Ce qu'il faut retenirKey findings

In 2030, our model matches NT+. Our model with the TYNDP assumptions, at the TYNDP gas and CO2 prices, 3 TYNDP climate years weighted: French average price €55.7/MWh against 57.2 in NT+; French hydrogen value in the first quarter (Q1, January to March) 58.3 against 60.8 €/MWh_H2. With the French pathway (PPE), the French price is €12.5/MWh below NT+: that is the intended effect of this pathway. voir le graphiquesee the chart
French average price: −9.4 €/MWh in 2035, −17.8 in 2040. French Q1 hydrogen: −28 then −55 €/MWh_H2. The gap is largest on hydrogen and at the top of the duration curve: French q90 (price exceeded 10% of the time) −41 €/MWh in 2035, −32 in 2040. voir le graphiquesee the chart
Seasonal management of water and hydrogen storage explains most of the gap at the top of the French duration curve, less than half on hydrogen and the average price. Our model runs its reservoirs and hydrogen storage optimally over the year; NT+ runs them differently. Imposing the NT+ weekly pace on our model (diagnostic A+C) closes, over the 3 weighted years, 0.68 of the French q90 gap in 2035 and 0.70 in 2040 (by climate year: 0.63 to 0.73 in 2035, 0.28 to 1.09 in 2040); but only 0.33 then 0.42 of the Q1 hydrogen gap, and 0.34 then 0.26 of the average-price gap. This diagnostic imposes NT+ outputs: it shows a mechanism, it does not say which model is right. voir le graphiquesee the chart
In 2040, Germany departs through another channel: hydrogen turbines. German average price €67/MWh against 102 in NT+; (A+C) closes only 0.08 of it for climate year ECE3 2035. Our model dispatches hydrogen turbines on merit and thus keeps a margin at peak. Adding to (A+C) an hourly cap equal to the NT+ output of these turbines in 5 zones (AT, DE, IE, NL, UK) closes 0.75 of the German gap for climate year ECE3 2035 (0.67 more than A+C) and 0.84 for ECE3 2041; the cap in Germany alone closes only 0.12: Dutch turbines take over. The test says where the gap goes, not why NT+ runs its turbines that way. voir le graphiquesee the chart
The 3 climate years retained by the TYNDP are not representative of the 30 PECD 2026 years. In 2035 they are rather mild: French q90 of €66/MWh for the 3 weighted years, against a median of 85 over the 30 years (from 41 to 121); climate year CMR5 2036, weight 0.43, ranks 28 of 30. In 2040 they are rather hard: 97 against a median of 57 (from 21 to 150), without covering the extreme tail (French Q1 hydrogen up to 143 €/MWh_H2, German average price up to 191 €/MWh). voir le graphiquesee the chart
